The Orskov Foundation Small Grants for Community Projects or Individual Student Training - CLOSED

Orskov Foundation – Small Grants for Community Projects or Individual Student Training

The Orskov Foundation promotes sustainable development for the poorest rural communities in the world. They aim to achieve this through the integration of agricultural education with community projects. The Orskov Foundation believes that this resultant sharing of knowledge, experience and information will be key factors to enable people and communities to find their own solutions to the complex problems they face and move towards self-sufficiency on their own terms.

The Orskov Foundation supports both individual students and a programme of community projects using a revolving-fund. Each project, its goals and management, is set up in partnership with the active participation of the community groups involved.

Orskov makes grants of up to £2,500 to support agriculture in developing countries. One category of grants supports university students in agricultural studies related to poverty alleviation and environmental sustainability. The second category of grants is for community-based agriculture on a revolving-fund basis.

Student Eligibility:

  • These grants are provided for students within the fields of agriculture, land use or environment and most demonstrate the potential to alleviate poverty and/or provide sustainable environmental benefits.
  • Student grants are only provided to help support costs of training at a university or similar organization other than the university/ college in which you are registered.
  • Eligible students must be registered graduate students in a developing country and must demonstrate that they have full support from the relevant university department/organization that they are seeking training from.
  • Preference is given to support training aimed at sustainable land use problems with an emphasis on animal, plant and soil interactions, with a potential to alleviate poverty and provide sustainable environmental benefits, including adaptation/mitigation to the impact of climate change.
